Whittier Branch Student Musicales

Participation Rules

• Musicales are open to all well-prepared students to play one or two pieces at the level of advancement. One movement of a Sonatina or a Sonata equals one piece.

• Each teacher may enter as many as 6 students per program but no more than 20 minutes per program. If a teacher submits more than 6 students, performers will be placed on different programs, time permitting.

• Compositions must be MEMORIZED except for ensembles, accompanied music, or music on memory optional programs.

• Music performed at Musicales must be from the standard CM repertoire except on specially designated programs. "Classical Program" also means no transcriptions or arrangements.

• No participant may perform the same selection on more than two Musicales in the same fiscal year. Note: Jr. Bach/Baroque Festivals are considered Musicales.

• Students will not be included on a Musicale if their online application and fees arrive too late for inclusion on the program. The Chair will notify the teacher.

• Teachers are responsible for informing students (and their parents) about the Whittier Dress Code. A student who violates the Dress code will not be allowed to perform. Note: teachers serving as Presenters are also asked to dress per the Dress Code.
